Follow-up
Before my wife left today, she asked how I was doing. I told her that I have a choice when it comes to my attitude and how things would play out. And that’s how it went. I did all that I could. In the process, I learned that there wasn’t anything I could have done Monday evening. I needed the help from someone else in my department. He was out yesterday and was back today. It...

Whoops!
I dropped the ball today. Or here’s where I expected that the worse wouldn’t happen. My kids and I are participating in our church’s family services. It’s a live-action nativity, told by our children with a few adults here and there. (Someone has to play Mary, right?) It’s a big production and usually has a few rehearsals prior to Christmas eve. Tonight, the practice...

Routine
I’m finding myself being the parent that can get my daughter down for bed. Regardless of circumstance, if I plop down on her bed and start reading, she’ll eventually give in and finally settle. Last night, we fought tool and nail. In the end, she crawled next to me and we finished the night out right. Tonight, we couldn’t get up there sooner. A while back, I told my daughter I...

It was once lost, but now is found
After parking at our usual location for the Falcons game last week, I noticed smashed glass throughout the parking lot. The Georgia Dome hosted the SEC championship the night before and apparently a number of cars had been broken into. It was even more apparent as we headed to the stairwell to exit. There was an opened Christmas present with a book inside. I glanced over and noticed it was a...

Was it a sign?
So, I was up most of the night on Friday. Got about 3 hours of sleep. Part of the reason was this idea to engage my social network and push beyond it. It first began by trying to meet someone noteworthy. But it became something that could really honor God. Right now, I’m trying to figure out how it would work. I want to involve everyone I know. Their talents, their ideas and their support....

I love this sign. It’s currently the background image to my laptop, screen and work. And now, my iPhone.

Eagles win
My son and went to the game today. It was difficult to watch. On the one hand, I still was harboring some resentment. Michael Vick was the guy who polarized this city after his arrest. The Falcons suffered greatly after he was sentenced. At the same time, we’re called to forgive and not to cast judgment. Afterward, my son was pretty down. I reminded him that the sun will still rise tomorrow...

Football
Last year, my son fell in love with football. Oklahoma was on top of their game and the Atlanta Falcons had a tremendous year. He began to absorb more player names and positions than I could ever process. By the time February rolled around, we couldn’t wait for signing day, draft day and any football news we could grab onto. It took me back to the Sundays spent with my parents at the...
